Are You Living Green Friendly?
Polar ice caps are melting and temperatures are rising from one year to the next. Climates are also changing and strange natural phenomena are affecting us. The less we show interest in the environment, the more it will deteriorate. If only we led more green friendly lives, things would improve considerably. Instead, most of us are only talk but no action. Since actions are the only ones that make a difference, there should be consistency between what we think or say and what we do.
To begin with, we could start by recycling and asking authorities to invest more in reprocessing what can be reprocessed. There are places where collecting plastics, paper or glass is done, yet all these materials end up in one and the same place: landfill sites. And that is because trash collecting companies and authorities prefer to invest money in something else rather than in recycling the materials as they should. It is important for us as citizens to take more interest in what happens with the collected materials after we separate them into categories. It is important that we take action and urge authorities and businesses to improve in this field.
Another way to expand a green friendly attitude is to buy only eco friendly products. Enough with all the chemicals around the house that take up space, harm us by causing all sorts of rashes and allergies and pollute the waters and the soil. Instead of having one cleaning product for each type of surface, we could choose to buy only one multi-purpose product; and if this is obtained only from natural substances such as plant extracts, even better. Avoiding working with toxic substances should become top priority for each of us.
Last but not least, we should focus more on technology. Green friendly cars should be encouraged and public transport should become a habit. City life is hectic and we need to travel quickly from one place to another; yet if we keep being as selfish as we have been so far, we will end up in a world of shades of grey as depicted in science fiction movies about the future. Exhaust fumes released into the atmosphere decrease the quality of air we breathe into our lungs and cause ozone depletion. That is why technology needs to be encouraged and group interests reoriented to the really important matters.
Despite all the warning signals, somehow we are lagging behind in taking measures consistently. It seems we all know what we have to do but somehow we fail to do it. Campaigns are being organized, the population is being educated in this direction, but we are still waiting for others to apply the basic rules of green friendly living. We need to act today!
Use Environmental Products
A very important category of environmental products meant to protect our future quality of life has to do with the process of recycling. So, what can we recycle and what benefits will come out of it?
The most important thing we can recycle is paper. Numerous offices and businesses use paper on a daily basis and it is extremely important that they collect waste paper and take it to collection centers. By recycling we reduce the deforestation rate and we save numerous species whose habitats are destroyed at an incredible fast rate because of our need for wood. More than a third of woods that are currently being cut down go into the process of paper making and this third could be reduced drastically if we recycled paper assiduously.
With recycling paper and producing new paper out of waste materials, more than a third of the energy consumption is saved. Another advantage of recycling paper is that landfill sites can be reduced again with about a third of volume. All this will lead to higher production of environmental products available on the market and more forests in the future.
Another type of environmental products obtained through recycling are plastics. This means that waste plastics obtained from soft drinks bottles have to be collected, melted and reprocessed into other plastic products. Normally plastics that are recycled will not go into manufacturing the same type of objects that were initially recycled. Bottles will probably become plastic chairs or tables, for instance; and that happens because, with recycling and processing, plastic changes its structure and will have to become the raw material in the production of other objects.
Still, if we recycle plastic materials correctly less energy will be invested in producing them and less pollution will result in the process. It is a highly well known fact that plastic takes a very long time to degrade in nature and we need to protect our soil.
Environmental products such as glass containers are also very helpful in long term plans to reduce the negative impact on Mother Nature. By recycling glass and manufacturing new usable glass environmental products we dramatically reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere during the manufacturing process.
Very many household items come in glass containers and glass is of various types too. Recycling such packaging requires knowledge about glass varieties and only then waste sorting is possible. Companies simplify things for us and normally separate glass into categories to aid to the process.
How To Live Environmentally Friendly
Everybody today is well informed about how to live environmentally friendly and what they need to do in order to meet the standards imposed by the necessity to help the world we live in. From reducing energy consumption in the home and at work to recycling, measures are numerous and if taken we can easily notice the benefits, even on a short term basis. Programs meant to educate the population are being developed and implemented worldwide using mass media and various types of campaigns.
Yet the focus today lies on the young generation and how to help motivate them to stick to the measures. We all know that teenage is the age of rebellion and it might be a little harder to reach those youngsters and really appeal to them. However, if they learn from an early age about how to live environmentally friendly and this type of living becomes some sort of norm, the future is secure for everyone.
School programs designed to educate the young are numerous all over the world. Some schools organize video making competitions on how to protect the environment topics, and the purpose behind all that is to make children aware of the need to care for the world they live in and for nature. Other schools collect paper and take it to centers where it gets recycled; or they simply try to reduce the consumption of paper, thus helping themselves save a great deal of money that would normally get spent on printed materials. Yet other schools get their students involved in programs meant to plant trees in various areas around their town.
The benefits of all these programs are definitely long term ones since these kids become aware of how to live environmentally friendly and the seed of caring about nature gets planted. Such programs are almost always volunteer-based and organized in cooperation with town halls and environmental agencies which shows the readiness and open-mindedness young minds present when it comes green issues.
Apart from the extra-curricular activities mentioned before, many countries have gone as far as introducing environmental education in their schools? curricula considering that a very important objective for the future society is to know how to live environmentally friendly. Hopefully, all these programs, whether part of the curricula or not, will turn out successful; if so, the future of our planet may change from the bleak perspective we have today to a more positive one.
Eco Friendly Cleaning For The Environment
Eco friendly cleaning is hard to achieve and not necessarily because of external factors but because of acquired habit and little interest shown in protecting the planet we live on. When we say cleaning we can refer to cleaning chores and even personal hygiene.
The number of online stores offering green cleaning products is surprisingly numerous and the products are of good quality. There is no need for skepticism when it comes to the outcome of using these products because their reliability is guaranteed. Think real! People who manufacture these products are basically interested in gaining and increasing profit from their business. Like any other manufacturer they are truly interested in keeping their customers satisfied with their products so that their business may flourish. This should be at least one reason why we should start showing more trust in these eco friendly cleaning products.
As for washing items, washing detergents should appear first on your list. Doing the laundry relies on using all sorts of chemicals today that released with the waste water genuinely harm the environment and the animals living in it. There is a host of green detergents that do a great job and rely on extracts from plants which are also completely safe for the human body. People should also consider the fact that they end up wearing what they wash and that these chemicals from washing detergents will eventually end up on their skin. The same is valid for dish washing detergents. So why not use the alternative detergents obtained from natural substances?
Eco friendly cleaning also deals with cleaning around the house. The kitchen and the bathroom pose many challenges since the market offers numerous types of products, each destined for cleaning various surfaces and objects. In an attempt to reduce the costs and make more efficient products, manufacturers have come up with all purpose cleaning products. However, to guarantee the reliability of their merchandise they have resorted to combining very strong chemicals which are harmful not only to the environment but also to the user.
Eco friendly cleaning products are an alternative to traditional detergents that cover a wide range of uses. Relying on various natural extracts, manufacturers that go fully green have managed to come up with surprisingly efficient eco friendly cleaning solutions. Let us take lemon juice, for example. It is an excellent bleach for white clothes, yet fewer and fewer people know that. Imagine having a detergent that is created based only on such substances that would make it impossible for you to get allergies.
In conclusion, the more natural, the healthier for everybody and for the environment.
Natural Cleaning Products To Save Our Environment
Cleanliness around the house will say a lot about what kind of persons we are. Housewives and housekeepers are usually the ones who focus on this aspect of everyday life and they seem to insist on having everything in place and clean. However, they have gotten used to relying on all sorts of unnatural cleaning products that are available on the market. If we want to go green, we could take a look back in time at what our grandmothers would use in order to clean their houses efficiently without any need to rely on strong chemicals.
There are some natural cleaning products that we could all make use around the house because they are available; all we need to do is learn a bit about which they are and what exactly they are good for.
To begin with, vinegar is a smart replacement of many chemical cleaning products nicely displayed on market shelves. It can help disinfect surfaces and deodorize them. It is important that you mix it with water in equal amounts; otherwise it will be acidic and can kill shimmer. It can be used in the bathroom to clean the tub, the toilet bowl, or the tile floor or in the kitchen to clean appliances and the cooker top without leaving any unpleasant smells once it dries off.
The list of natural cleaning products continues with lemon juice and baking soda. While lemon juice is very effective at cleaning dishes and surfaces that are stained, baking soda is abrasive and is great for scrubbing floors or harder surfaces. The latter is also the ideal deodorizer for refrigerators or freezers and even indoor places. A mixture of the three natural cleaning products mentioned above can also be obtained to replace cleaning pastes so widely used in scrubbing sinks and dishes.
All in all, natural cleaning products are available and on hand but we seem to have forgotten their initial purpose and their major benefits. We have all got used to going to the supermarket in order to purchase cleaning substances that actually harm the environment once they are released into nature with the residual water. It would be a pity for us not to go back to the times when we all lived green and could enjoy clean waters and soil. We need to be reminded every once in a while that cleanliness also concerns the environment and the community, not only the house we live in.
